Caribbean coast to end my stay in Colombia starting in Santa Marta, on to park tayrona then further down to Palomino where I found the little piece of colombia that I had been waiting for. White sand beaches stretching the horrizon with fresh water rivers making their way to meet the sea. To make the place even more special the Sierra Nevada mountains lie as a spectacular back drop waiting to be explored. All night fires on the beach guarantees you'll be up with the rising sun to swim in the sea.
There are three different indigenous cultures living in this part of Colombia. The Kogi's are one of the pre Hispanic tribes living in the area. As a civilisation we could learn a lot from listening to their messages of wisdom. The concept of aluna lies at the heart of their belief system, this is the realisation of our cosmic consciousness. As a species we should be accessing this plane of consciousness in order to live in harmony with the web of life. They stress how disastrous short short-sighted economic projects are for the natural world. They spend their lives in-tune with a heightend sense of consciousness and had predicted the knock on effects of logging, mining, building of ports along the coast line, (amongst other things) which they can feel at the top of the mountains. I pray with them in hope for an empowered world, one which loves the mother from which it came, rather than wasting power and energy on exploiting her.
Inspire, hope, love, live.. For a better way of being.
